For the past four semesters, I have lost four family members. Every semester before final week starts, I get a phone call delivering the bad news. People say that there are always tradeoffs when you make your decisions, so I guess the tradeoff I need to bear with
for coming to US for college is missing the last chances to see my uncle, my grandma, and my two grandfathers. Life is just like that; it really can suck big time, and the worst part is that there's absolutely nothing you can do about it.
So I was at MISA's end of semester dinner having lots of fun when I was supposed to be getting the news, but my phone died on me once again when I needed it the most, and I heard the news through Tracy's cell phone. I was speechless. All of a sudden it comes, and I didn't see it at all. Not even a bit. I know it's not my fault, but god damn it I was laughing and joking with great friends while my grandpa was leaving this world, drawing his last breath. Sometimes you just have to hate how life works.
At the end of the day, I'm just gonna miss him so much, as I miss all the other dear people that I couldn't say goodbye to. For now, I have to stop thinking about it. Tomorrow at 10am, I have a meeting for MIS497a's project, and as ridiculous as it seems to be, that is what I should be concerning about at this very moment. Yeah, what a successful life I have here.
